Corporate Accountant

About the Role:

As a Corporate Accountant, you’ll play a key role in managing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making. This position is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities:General Ledger & Financial Operations

• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, accruals, and depreciation.
• Review account balances and ensure accuracy in prepayments, provisions, and intercompany transactions.
• Oversee billing processes such as management fees and chargebacks.
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Support internal reporting and presentations for leadership and stakeholders.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Collaborate with leadership to develop budgets and long-term forecasts.
• Analyze variances and provide insights to guide financial planning.

Tax Compliance

• Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns (e.g., HST/QST).
• Stay informed on tax regulations and assess their impact on financial operations.

Audit & Analysis

• Support external audits by providing documentation and addressing inquiries.
• Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to support business initiatives.
• Implement audit recommendations to enhance internal controls.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation is an asset.
• Experience with holding companies and market securities is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage), Unanet, and Microsoft Excel.
• Proven ability to improve processes and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, especially when presenting financial data to non-financial audiences.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance.
