Web Content Developer
About the Role
Our client is seeking a Web Content Developer to support the creation, maintenance, and optimization of their digital presence. This role is ideal for someone who leads with strong visual and graphic design skills, and who is equally comfortable bringing those designs to life through front‑end web technologies.
You will work closely with marketing, digital, and internal stakeholders to ensure web properties and digital campaigns are visually compelling, on brand, and executed with a high level of quality and consistency.
Please note this role is based out of the Edmonton office, and candidates must be located in the Edmonton area.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and produce visually engaging digital and print assets using Adobe Creative Suite
- Lead the visual design and layout of websites and landing pages, with a strong focus on brand consistency and user experience
- Translate design concepts into functional web pages using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP
- Create and manage landing page content and digital campaign assets
- Update and maintain multiple web properties within a custom content management system
- Provide guidance on web layout, typography, color theory, accessibility, and visual hierarchy
- Proof, monitor, and debug digital assets including websites, email campaigns, online collateral, and print materials
- Develop and maintain responsive email templates and marketing collateral
- Support front‑end environments built on modern frameworks such as React, Angular, and TypeScript, primarily from a UI and design implementation perspective
- Collaborate with marketing and e‑commerce teams to support digital initiatives
- Manage and report on web analytics as required
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and external vendors
- Ensure compliance with branding standards, advertising guidelines, and regulatory requirements
- Provide light copywriting support when required
- Perform other related duties as needed
Skills and Competencies
- Strong visual design skills with a well‑developed aesthetic and attention to detail
- Solid understanding of branding, layout, typography, and user‑centered design principles
- Ability to balance creative execution with technical constraints
- Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail with strong proofreading and quality control habits
- Working knowledge of web analytics and basic performance tracking
Experience and Education
- Minimum of 2+ years of professional experience in digital or graphic design‑focused web roles
- Professional graphic design experience is required
- Strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is required
- Hands‑on experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP is required
- Experience working with CMS‑driven websites and PHP‑based templates
- Diploma or degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Web Design, or a related field
- Experience designing for web, email, and digital marketing campaigns
- Exposure to modern front‑end frameworks such as React, Angular, or TypeScript is an asset
- Familiarity with Microsoft‑based development environments (C#, .NET, ASP.NET, Web APIs) is an asset
- Copywriting experience is an asset but not required
