We are recruiting for a Sales Manager to join DFMZ in Ottawa, Ontario.
This is an exciting opportunity for a driven, outbound-focused sales professional to build and grow a pipeline of customers in technical and capital equipment markets. The Sales Manager will own the full sales cycle, from outreach and direct prospecting through to close, with a clear mandate to develop new OEM and end-user relationships across DFMZ’s cleanroom, biosafety, fume hood, and containment system lines.
The ideal candidate is a proactive hunter with a strong record of self-generated business development, documented revenue growth across multiple accounts, and experience selling custom-engineered or engineered-to-order solutions. They are comfortable prospecting directly into technical buying groups, working closely with engineering and quoting teams, and being measured through a structured pipeline cadence.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage a self-generated outbound pipeline of net-new OEM and end-user accounts across pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, industrial cleanroom, and controlled-environment markets.
- Lead direct prospecting efforts, including cold calling, targeted outreach, trade show follow-up, and relationship development with engineering, procurement, facilities, and technical decision-makers.
- Own the full sales cycle from first contact through discovery, technical scoping, proposal, negotiation, and close.
- US market development is a primary focus of this role; the majority of net-new account hunting will target pharma, biotech, and advanced manufacturing buyers in the United States.
- Partner with engineering, design, and quoting teams to translate customer requirements into custom-engineered cleanroom, biosafety, fume hood, isolator, and containment solutions.
- Maintain accurate CRM activity, pipeline reporting, account development updates, and sales forecasting through DFMZ’s weekly growth cadence.
- Represent DFMZ in the market while monitoring customer needs, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities within cleanroom, containment, and controlled-environment sectors.
Qualifications
- 5–8 years of progressive experience in technical sales, capital equipment sales, or business development, ideally within cleanroom, biosafety, fume hood, isolator, containment, or controlled-environment equipment.
- Proven success building self-generated outbound pipeline through cold calling, direct prospecting, trade show development, and new account acquisition.
- Pipeline activity is reviewed weekly through a structured Growth Council cadence with real-time visibility; candidates who thrive in accountable, metrics-driven environments will fit well here.
- Documented track record of revenue growth across multiple accounts, with evidence of developing a diverse customer base rather than relying on one dominant client or inherited book of business.
- Experience selling custom-engineered, engineered-to-order, or custom-configured equipment requiring discovery, technical scoping, internal collaboration, and solution development.
- Strong ability to work with engineering, design, quoting, and other technical professionals to understand customer requirements, scope custom solutions, and communicate technical concepts clearly throughout the sales process.
- Entrepreneurial, resilient, and proactive, with strong communication and consultative selling skills; bilingual English/French would be considered an asset.
