Position Overview

The Director of Human Resources leads both the strategic and operational aspects of Avana’s people function, ensuring HR practices support business goals, culture, and scalable growth, including expansion into new markets. This role oversees the full employee lifecycle while shaping long‑term workforce strategy, talent development, and organizational effectiveness.

Working closely with senior leaders and people managers, the Director of HR ensures HR systems, processes, and programs are consistent, effective, and aligned to support employee performance, engagement, and long‑term success.

Key ResponsibilitiesPeople Strategy, Workforce Planning & Culture

  • Define and execute the people strategy aligned with Avana’s goals and growth plans.
  • Lead organizational design, workforce planning, role architecture, and succession planning to support scalability.
  • Partner with executive leadership to shape culture, values, headcount strategy, and long‑term talent priorities.

Employee Lifecycle, Training & Leadership Development

  • Own the full employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, performance management, development, and offboarding.
  • Design and oversee training and development programs, including leadership development and high potential initiatives.
  • Coach and enable managers on performance management, employee development, feedback, and corrective actions.

Performance, Talent & Development

  • Define performance management philosophy, frameworks, and success metrics; ensure consistent execution.
  • Partner with leaders to identify skill gaps and ensure development initiatives support current and future needs.
  • Track development progress, and performance outcomes to ensure effectiveness.

Employee Relations, Safety & Risk

  • Own HR policies and procedures; ensure compliance with employment laws and standards.
  • Lead employee relations, investigations, and conflict resolution with fair, consistent, and well documented outcomes.
  • Oversee company-wide safety standards and programs.

Compensation, Benefits & Total Rewards

  • Establish, recommend and oversee the compensation philosophy of the company.
  • Lead benefits strategy to support attraction, retention, and cost effectiveness.
  • Partner with leadership to align total rewards with business and financial goals.

HR Operations, Systems & Analytics

  • Own HR systems, data, reporting, and operational workflows to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Ensure HR processes are efficient, scalable, and consistently executed.
  • Deliver people analytics and insights to inform decisions and continuous improvement.

HR Leadership

  • Lead and develop the HR team, setting priorities, expectations, and development plans.
  • Own HR budget planning, vendor management, and operational oversight across benefits, systems, and learning.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of HR leadership experience across strategy and operations.
  • Demonstrated success in performance management, training and development, employee relations, and HR operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and risk management.
  • Experience with HR systems and data driven decision making.
  • Proven ability to coach leaders, influence stakeholders, and strengthen organizational culture.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or HR certification preferred.
