The Role Wood is currently seeking a highly motivated Junior Mechanical / Piping Designer to join our Minerals & Metals team. Reporting to the Mechanical Department Manager, this position is located at our Saskatoon, SK office. The role will be responsible for providing layout support, design, and drafting of mechanical and piping systems, preparing engineering drawings, and maintaining positive relationships within the teams. ResponsibilitiesTypical responsibilities
- Provide layout support and design of piping and mechanical systems for potash and uranium plants and related infrastructure. This includes mechanical equipment, building services/HVAC, and piping.
- Design and drafting of equipment and mechanical / piping systems in 2D and 3D drawing environments
- Prepare engineering drawings from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
- Prepare mechanical drawings, diagrams, and/or models of various equipment, using computer-aided drafting (CAD) and/or computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) software.
- Attend project meetings and discussions with the client and staff
- Develop and maintain positive & sustainable relationships within our team and with clients
- Work as part of a multidiscipline engineering team

- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MechTech), CAD/CAM (DMET), Engineering Design & Drafting Technology or equivalent diploma
- Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and/or AVEVA E3D software and excellent knowledge of 3D design/drafting.
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills
Desirable
- Mining and potash experience
- Piping, materials handling, and / or HVAC experience,
- Underground mining experience
- Construction experience
