As the Director of Parliamentary Affairs for Senator Katherine Hay, you will play a pivotal role in advancing her unwavering commitment to youth mental health, gender equity, and inclusive, community-driven health care policy. With over four decades of leadership in the not-for-profit, healthcare, and financial sectors, Senator Hay brings a wealth of experience in transformative organizational leadership, public advocacy, and cross-sector collaboration. Your work will support her efforts to build a healthier, more equitable Canada—particularly for women, children, and marginalized communities. In this role, you will help shape and implement the Senator’s priorities related to mental health, health equity, the not-for-profit sector, and digital innovation in public service delivery. You will also support her focus on strengthening Canada’s position in the global technology landscape, leveraging innovation to enhance health and social outcomes. You will be instrumental in researching policy, providing strategic guidance, managing communications, and building meaningful relationships with stakeholders to support evidence-based and compassionate policymaking. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and provide advice on issues related to mental health, innovation and the technology sector, equity, youth well-being, digital and communication, and the not-for-profit sector;
  • Develop and implement strategies to advance the Senator’s legislative goals, with a focus on inclusive health care, social equity, and community-driven innovation;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including health organizations, youth advocates, Indigenous communities, and philanthropic networks;
  • Lead the creation of speeches, media releases, and social media content that clearly communicate the Senator’s vision and initiatives.

Open to The general public to staff one (1) indeterminate full-time position in the Office of the Honourable Senator Katherine Hay.   • University degree from a recognized university in political science, public health, communications, or any other field related to the duties of the position and/or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience;
  • Extensive experience in building and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government officials, healthcare organizations, and youth-focused groups;
  • Significant experience working with senior officials, parliamentarians, and the media, with a proven ability to effectively represent the Senator’s interests;
  • Exceptional writing, research, analytical, and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce policy briefs, speeches, and other strategic materials;
  • Ability to thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced environment, with the flexibility to adapt to evolving issues and priorities;
  • Strong awareness of current issues in mental health, youth policy, digital public services, and equity-focused governance;
  • A solid understanding of the functions of the Senate and the political climate, with the ability to provide sound strategic advice and recommendations;
  • Expert proficiency in English, with working knowledge of French is considered an asset.
