Job Description

Posted on: April 11, 2026

JD: Chief Operating Officer (COO), Energy – LNG Operations & CommissioningThe Opportunity: A Legacy-Building Capstone Role

We are seeking a heavyweight, highly seasoned LNG Operations Executive for a pivotal leadership role within our Energy Business. Designed as a 3-to-4-year capstone opportunity, this role is built for a senior leader looking to cement their legacy by taking our flagship Woodfibre LNG (WLNG) project from mechanical completion through commissioning, start-up, and into world-class steady-state operations.

As the COO, you will act as the "operator's operator" and a critical partner to the Energy President. Crucially, you will serve as the executive mentor to the current WLNG senior leaders, actively grooming them for future succession while providing the "grey-hair" governance needed to ensure a flawless, safe, and efficient plant start-up in North America.

The role will be based in Singapore or VancouverThe Mission & Key Outcomes

Instead of a standard list of tasks, we measure success by outcomes. In this role, your primary deliverables will be:

  • Commissioning to Steady-State Mastery: Lead the strategic transition from project execution to operational reality. You will oversee Operational Readiness (O&M organizational design, procedures, and staffing), mitigate start-up risks, and guide the plant safely through first-gas and into high-reliability steady-state operations.
  • Executive Mentorship & Succession: Bring unquestionable boardroom gravitas to the role. You will act as the undisputed senior mentor to the WLNG leadership team, providing executive air-cover, transferring decades of operational wisdom, and preparing them to take up more senior roles in the coming years.
  • Operational Discipline & Safety: Establish a "boring and predictable" operations culture. Drive industry-leading process safety, reliability, and cost-consciousness, ensuring strict compliance with North American regulatory frameworks.
  • Clear & Decisive Governance: Cut through complexity. We operate in a nimble, entrepreneurial environment without the heavy bureaucracy of a supermajor. We need a leader who communicates succinctly, makes fast, informed decisions, and focuses purely on execution and risk mitigation.

The Avatar of Success

  • Deep LNG Operations Pedigree: 25-30+ years of progressive energy experience, with a specific, world-class track record in LNG plant commissioning, start-up, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M).
  • The "Bridge" Executive: You are in the latter stages of your career, seeking a highly impactful, 3-to-4-year transition role where your primary motivations are legacy, mentorship, and operational perfection.
  • North American Expertise: Deep understanding of the North American regulatory, safety, and stakeholder landscape. Experience working with First Nations or Indigenous communities is a highly valued asset.
  • Executive Gravitas: You possess the corporate weight and polish to command respect in the boardroom and the field alike. You communicate with absolute clarity and authority.
  • The "Nice-to-Haves": While your focus is Operations, prior exposure to All-Electric Drive (E-Drive) LNG facilities and navigating the logistics of Modularized Plant Fabrication (Asian module yards) will significantly set you apart.

(Note: We have deliberately deprioritized upstream exploration, downstream refining, and pure EPC construction management for this role. Your superpower must be Operational Readiness and LNG Commissioning).

Why Join Us?

This is a rare opportunity to turn the keys on one of North America’s most high-profile energy assets and directly shape the next generation of C-Suite leadership in a fast-paced, well-capitalized, and highly entrepreneurial environment.
