Your new role
As Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager, you’ll work alongside an experienced peer to oversee the firm’s financial operations. Reporting directly to the Managing and Senior Partners, you’ll take ownership of a wide range of responsibilities including:
- Managing financial reporting using PCLaw (month-end, year-end, weekly reports)
- Overseeing billing, disbursements, accounts payable/receivable
- Ensuring compliance with LSO trust accounting rules and completing annual reports
- Administering LawPro insurance, transaction levies, and benefits programs
- Handling payroll, HST filings, and lawyer compensation calculations
- Liaising with external accountants, banks, and vendors
- Training staff on PCLaw and onboarding new hires via ADP
This is a full-time, in-office role (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) with minimal overtime and the potential to grow into a Controller position over time.
What you’ll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
- 8–10+ years of accounting experience, including 3–5 years in a senior accountant or managerial capacity
- Hands-on experience with PCLaw (essential)
- A background in small to mid-sized firms (up to ~50 employees)
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- CPA designation is not required, but a solid understanding of accounting principles is essential
