Job Title: Financial Reconciliation Analyst II - Public Market Operations Location: Edmonton, AB (Remote) Date Posted: 2025-07-23 Employment Type: Contract Salary Range: C$40 - C$70 per hour Shift/Work Schedule: Not specifiedJob DescriptionYou will help ensure all investment transactions are accurately recorded in our client's system, SimCorp Dimensions (SCD). This involves confirming cash movements reported by banks and other financial institutions. Your attention to detail will be crucial in verifying all investment holdings reported by our custodians against SCD.Each day, you will ensure transactions between our client's other flagship systems (CRTS, PLM, Calypso, and Eagle) and SCD are complete. By collaborating with various internal and external partners, you will help protect our clients' financial security by managing and reducing the risk of failed or incorrect transactions.Your work will have a positive impact on the lives of Albertans today and in the future by ensuring all approved investment transactions are recorded accurately and on time.Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Mathematics, or another related field
Key Responsibilities
- Review our client’s Investment Accounting system’s (SCD) Payment Reconciliation module to external bank SWIFT files (Brokerage, Client, RBC, Brokerage State Street, TD)
- Investigate SCD payment reconciliation breaks, including review of unreconciled items and confirmation with third parties and internal clients
- Verify all daily payment activity ensuring investment transactions—including trades, corporate action transactions, income activity, maturities, and redemptions—have been completely and accurately recorded in our client’s book of record
- Reconcile all position and transaction reconciliations between SCD and its partner systems: CRTS, PLM, Calypso, and Eagle
- Identify opportunities for efficiencies in the movement of funds and positions internally and externally and report to management
- Help ensure all controls the Financial Reconciliation team is responsible for are operating effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of related experience in the investment industry
- Designations such as CSC or CFA are an asset but not required
Nice to Haves
- Advanced understanding of financial markets, institutional asset management, investment regulations, complex investment strategies, investment process, and best practices relating to internal controls and procedures
- In-depth knowledge of current industry settlement practices plus familiarity with various investment products
- Basic knowledge of SCD investment accounting system is an asset
- Analytical abilities needed to identify root cause and recommend solutions
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively to solve problems and resolve challenges in a timely manner
- Comfortable multi-tasking while completing work with high attention to detail
