We’re looking for a detailed-oriented Financial Analyst to manage our accounting activities, prepare our financial and operating reporting and build financial and performance dashboards. This role bridges the traditional accounting cycle with forward-looking analytics, translating financial and customer data into clear insights. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will help shape operational and financial decisions, enhance operational efficiency, and contribute to business growth. The ideal candidate is comfortable working within the traditional accounting cycle, building financial models, and designing dashboards that make complex information easy to understand and act upon.

Key Responsibilities:Core Accounting & Financial Operations·        Oversee our 3rd party bookkeeper, reviewing accounts payable, vendor payments and payroll transactions.

·        Maintain accounts receivable, including deposits, processing payments (e.g., pre-authorized debits), and reconciling payment entries in the system.

·        Oversee general ledger maintenance, post journal entries, and manage schedules and reconciliations (prepaids, fixed assets, investments etc).

·        Prepare ad-hoc partner remittances and employee reimbursements in Plooto.

·        Review general ledger activity for accuracy and completeness.

·        Work cross-functionally to enhance workflows and optimize operations.

Financial Reporting

·        Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes.

·        Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and KPI reporting.

·        Prepare quarterly performance reporting for the Board.

·        Conduct variance analysis on budgets versus actuals.

·        Support the year-end audit as the primary contact.

Financial Planning & Analysis

·        Assist in the creation of budgets and financial forecasts.

·        Maintain budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis between actual and budgeted.

·        Monitor cash flow status, ensuring adequate liquidity for operations.

Data-Informed Decision Making·        Develop dashboards, reports and business intelligence solutions for clear visibility into and reporting of key business metrics.

·        Translate complex metrics into insights.

·        Ensure the accuracy and quality of all data outputs.

·        Improve data quality, consistency, and usability across reports.

·        Automate recurring reports where possible to improve efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience·        Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

·        CPA or CFA an asset.

·        5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with skills in financial reporting, budgeting, variance analysis, and audit preparation.

·        Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

·        High-level proficiency in Quickbooks Online. Experience with Dext, Plooto and Wagepoint as asset.

·        Strong analytical, attention to detail and problem-solving skills, especially with large datasets from multiple systems.

·        Demonstrated experience implementing dashboards and other reporting tools.

·        Proactive, curious, and solution-oriented mindset.

·        Background in the insurance or finance industries an asset.
