Are you ready to shape the future of energy? The Future Grid and Modernization team is seeking a visionary Engineering Team Lead to join us at our Edmonds office in Burnaby, BC. This is more than a technical role—it's a strategic opportunity to lead transformative initiatives that will define the next generation of power systems.

As a recognized expert in your field, you’ll tackle complex challenges, drive innovation, and lead the development of cutting-edge engineering solutions. You’ll be at the forefront of modernizing our grid, integrating smart technologies, and enabling sustainable energy systems.

This role leads planning engineers and across the organization in key areas such as: asset management for T&D Automation and smart technology trials and technology transfer.

You’ll also provide strategic direction and subject matter expertise across initiatives including: Grid Modernization and Advanced Grid Management Platforms such as ADMS and DERMS, advanced metering

What you’ll do

* Co-author and key contributor to the Future Grid Strategy and Roadmap, shaping long-term vision and execution.

* Provide expert-level system planning leadership, recognized across the organization for deep technical insight.

* Lead the development of strategic plans, planning engineering practices, and quality processes, ensuring excellence in high-risk and complex projects.

* Apply multi-disciplinary systems thinking to solve challenges across departments, aligning technical solutions with business and strategic goals.

* Guide project teams through innovative and complex technical initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader organizational objectives.

* Proactively identify risks and develop original, high-impact solutions to emerging technical and planning issues.

* Define and track business objectives and performance metrics, driving continuous improvement.

* Foster a culture of collaboration, mentorship, and knowledge sharing across teams and departments.

* Build influential relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including municipalities, technical societies, and industry groups.

* Represent Future Grid and Modernization in public consultations, regulatory processes, and strategic forums.

* Act as a key liaison to Community Relations, Indigenous Relations, and Key Accounts, supporting regulatory coordination and stakeholder engagement.

What you bring

* A degree in Electrical Engineering recognized by EGBC and/or Canadian universities. Consideration may be given to other degrees with a strong focus on power systems.

* Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC).

* Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with expertise in planning, smart grid applications, EV infrastructure, power system design, or system analysis. Preference for candidates with experience in multiple areas.

* Valid Class 5 Driver License

*Exceptional communication skills—able to engage technical and non-technical audiences, present at conferences, and build strong stakeholder relationships.

* Proven leadership in external technical committees and public forums, offering expert insights and strategic guidance.

* Strong project management capabilities, including budgeting, scheduling, and team leadership.

* Advanced problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex systems and deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions.

* Deep understanding of utility systems, asset management, and system planning processes.

* Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor peers, and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.

* Strategic thinker with a track record of influencing outcomes and driving organizational success.

* Excellent organizational and relationship-building skills.
