Federal Budget Allocates Millions for Job Training and Credential Recognition

Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu has announced that the upcoming federal budget will include $75 million over the next three years to enhance the Union Training and Innovation Program, specifically targeting the building trades. This funding, set for the 2026-27 fiscal year, is part of a broader initiative to strengthen Canada's workforce.

In addition to apprentice training, the government plans to collaborate with provinces to accelerate the recognition of foreign professional credentials. This effort will be supported by a $97 million fund reallocated from existing Employment Department resources, aiming to streamline processes for internationally trained professionals.

Hajdu also revealed that the budget will introduce a new personal support worker tax credit, further supporting workers in this essential field.
