Ya’thi Néné Lands and Resources represents the Athabasca Basin communities, focusing on protecting the interests of its people and environment. Since its establishment in 2016, the organization has been dedicated to promoting environmental, social, economic, and cultural well-being for current and future residents. By fostering collaboration with government and industry partners, Ya’thi Néné works to safeguard the land and support the community through agreements and initiatives.

Role Description

The Athabasca Education Employment and Development Committee (AEEDC), in partnership with the Ya’thi Néné Land and Resource Office, is seeking an experienced Labour Market Development Specialist to  lead a transformative initiative in the Athabasca Basin region.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of workforce development in Northern Saskatchewan by designing and implementing a coordinated Labour Market Intelligence (LMI) strategy. Your work will directly support sustainable, generational employment pathways for Indigenous communities and regional stakeholders.

This full-time contract role will:

✔ Build relationships with northern employers

✔ Collect and analyze labour market information

✔ Support communities, industry, and education partners

✔ Deliver clear reports, briefings, and workshops

✔ Help create long-term employment opportunities for Athabasca residents

Qualifications

  • 10–15 years of experience in labour market intelligence, workforce or economic development.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Expertise in data analysis and reporting.
  • Deep understanding of Indigenous cultures and governance, especially in Northern or remote communities.
  • Experience in mining, critical minerals, or exploration is a strong asset.
  • Post-secondary education in economics, workforce development, business, or related fields.
  • Certifications in project management or data analysis are an asset
