Job Description
Posted on: December 10, 2025
We are seeking an experienced Product Designer / Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team at our Winnipeg head office. The ideal candidate has a strong background in window and door manufacturing, with a passion for improving design, process efficiency, and product performance. As part of a medium-sized company, you'll work on a wide variety of projects-from product development, simulation, and testing to process improvement and custom design. This role offers greater scope and influence than in many larger organizations, making it ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on, cross-functional work. Key Responsibilities
- Design and refine window and door products, components, and assemblies for manufacturability, performance, and durability.
- Run thermal and structural simulations to evaluate and optimize product performance.
- Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) or similar simulation tools.
- Assist in conducting NAFS product testing to ensure compliance with air, water, and structural requirements.
- Collaborate with production teams to improve manufacturing processes and reduce waste.
- Create and maintain detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation.
- Research materials, hardware, and new technologies to support product innovation.
- Support custom and project-specific product design needs.
- Comfortable with tools and machinery for hands-on prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoot design and production issues and recommend improvements.
- Work with suppliers and partners to ensure quality and compatibility of components.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in window and door manufacturing in a similar technical, design, or engineering role.
- Strong knowledge of window and door systems, hardware, and fabrication methods.
- Experience running thermal simulations (e.g., using Therm, Flixo, or similar software).
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) or comparable tools.
- Proficiency with 2D and 3D software (AutoCAD, Fusion, or similar).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative.
- Comfortable working on-site; remote work is not available for this position.
- Engineering degree preferred but not required if experience demonstrates equivalent capability.
