Summary: The international education and student engagement officer supports both student engagement initiatives and international education programming within the unit. This role contributes to the planning and delivery of student-focused events that enhance the overall student experience and foster a sense of belonging. Additionally, the officer supports the department through study abroad advising, coordination of student mobility programs, and program-related processes. This position involves frequent collaboration with internal units, academic partners, and international institutions to support the work of the centre. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports the planning and delivery of major student events, such as welcome, global village and open house initiatives
  • Acts as a unit liaison with stakeholders to support information sharing, timelines, and collaboration
  • Provides administrative support to event planning committees, including agenda preparation and tracking action items
  • Provides on-site event support, including wayfinding, volunteer coordination, and troubleshooting issues
  • Identifies operational risks and escalates concerns
  • Performs operational processes for inbound and outbound student mobility programs, including applications, selections, and post-program activities
  • Implements policies related to international travel risk management and compliance
  • Facilitates pre-departure requirements, documentation tracking, and monitoring activities
  • Provides advising, information, and referral services related to study abroad and international student programs
  • Determines seat allocations and maintains relationships with international partners in collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Communicates and acts in a respectful and professional manner, collaborates effectively, abides by policy, and contributes to a positive and productive work and learning environment

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in education, international studies, communications, marketing, event management, or a related field
  • Experience working with diverse student populations is an asset
  • Knowledge of student mobility programs and international education practices, including Canadian immigration processes is an asset
  • Familiarity with risk management and compliance processes
  • Strong project and event management abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex logistics with high attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
