Reporting to the Economic Development Manager, this position contributes to the implementation of the Economic Development Strategy and strategic priorities. This position will help promote economic growth opportunities and community development through marketing initiatives, business engagement, and project support. A key part of the role is promoting and sharing Stony Plain’s unique story by showcasing the community’s strengths, identity, and opportunities. The successful candidate will be community-focused, service-oriented, with a passion for supporting local businesses, residents, partners, and investors through meaningful engagement. The specialist will work to ensure Stony Plain remains an attractive, investment-friendly, and future-ready community through marketing activities, data collection, and economic development support.
We are seeking a candidate who:
- Has applied knowledge of marketing and the ability to develop and execute effective marketing strategies.
- Has demonstrated the ability to lead projects and carry them through to completion.
- Has strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Has strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize independently and adapt to changing workloads and timelines.
- Has knowledge of economic and business development principles.
- Is willing to and able to work outside regular business hours to attend and/or host community and regional meetings and events.
Education and Experience:
- Holds a post-secondary degree or diploma in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of two years of experience in marketing, economic development, or a related field, preferably in a municipal or similar environment, is required.

The salary range for this position is $71,799 - $91,346 per annum based on experience. This is a permanent full-time position based on 35 hours per week. The incumbent may be expected to work outside business hours to host and/or attend community or regional meetings and events as required. The Town has an excellent health and benefits package, including the Local Authorities Pension Plan.
