Basic Requirements

  • Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Three (3) months of recent Obstetrics experience;
  • Recent experience in antenatal care;
  • Theoretical knowledge of the care of obstetrical patients and newborns, and ability to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting;
  • Demonstrates a sound knowledge of the nursing process;
  • Demonstrates a desire and ability to participate in patient teaching;
  • Demonstrates a professional and respectful attitude to patients, to the public and to colleagues;
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as an active member of the health care team;
  • Identifies a commitment to personal continuing education activities;
  • Demonstrates willingness to participate in 24 hour Mother Baby Model of Care;
  • Demonstrates understanding of and participation in the evaluation process;
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the application and relevance of the continuous quality improvement activities;
  • Eligible to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with fetal monitoring;
  • A degree in Nursing;
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certificate;
  • Antepartum, High Risk course from the University of Ottawa;
  • Proficiency in English and French - oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
