Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business. Your Role

  • Managing and directing all project phases from project definition to proposal writing, data collection and fieldwork, laboratory management, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Conducting geochemical and hydrogeochemical fieldwork, data management, QA/QC, data manipulation and geochemical modelling using speciation and mass transport codes.
  • Utilize predictive geochemical modelling software such as Phreeq/C and Geochemists Workbench to predict mine facility contact water quality.
  • Communicate complex geochemical information and interpretations to non-technical specialists either through reporting or presentations.
  • Mentoring and training junior scientific staff and technicians.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10–15 years of relevant experience in geochemistry, water quality, acid rock drainage and metal leaching (ARD/ML) assessments, and predictive modelling; mining experience in cold regions is preferred.
  • Degree in mining, geoscience, geochemistry, engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
  • Experience with aqueous geochemistry, mass balance, water quality modelling, and integration of geochemistry with site-wide water balances and engineering design.
  • Proficiency with modelling tools such as PHREEQC, Geochemist’s Workbench, GoldSIM, or similar software.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and provincial water quality regulations, licensing, and permitting requirements, particularly in a mining context.
  • Familiarity with surface and underground mining operations, waste rock, tailings storage facilities, hydrogeology, and hydrology.
  • Ability to prepare clear, defensible technical reports and communicate effectively with regulators, clients, and communities.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and professional ethics.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience with junior staff is an asset.
  • Consulting experience is preferred.
  • Professional registration as a P.Eng. or P.Geo. with a Canadian regulatory body.
