About the Job

Our client is seeking a real estate lawyer to support its growing real estate portfolio. In this role, you will provide legal expertise on commercial leasing and other real estate transactions, ensuring compliance and mitigating risk. You’ll work closely with internal teams to draft, review, and negotiate agreements that support a major commercial real estate portfolio.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Vice President of Legal, you will handle legal matters related to commercial leasing and real estate transactions. This includes drafting and negotiating contracts, conducting due diligence, and advising internal departments on diverse legal issues. You’ll also develop standard agreements and maintain accurate lease summaries for multiple properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial leases, subleases, and related agreements.
  • Prepare and interpret purchase and sale agreements, easements, and other real estate contracts.
  • Lead and participate in due diligence processes.
  • Maintain and update tenant rights summaries and verify lease abstracts.
  • Provide legal opinions and support to various departments.
  • Develop standard contract templates and draft resolutions and correspondence.

Desired Candidate

  • Member in good standing of the Quebec Bar.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial real estate law and leasing.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Bilingual in French and English.
  • Proficient in Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proven leadership abilities.
