Role Description The Senior Staff Accountant is a full-time, on-site role located in Toronto, ON. This role involves preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing general ledger entries, and ensuring accuracy in month-end and year-end closing processes. The Senior Staff Accountant will handle corporate and personal tax returns, assist with tax planning, and support SR&ED and other advisory engagements. Daily responsibilities include reconciling accounts, analyzing financial data, preparing working papers, and responding to client inquiries. The role also includes collaborating with team members, supporting audits and reviews, identifying process improvements, and maintaining compliance with relevant accounting and tax regulations. Qualifications
- Strong technical accounting skills, including financial statement preparation, general ledger management, and account reconciliation.
- Proficiency with tax compliance and planning for corporate and personal tax, including knowledge of Canadian tax regulations.
- Experience with SR&ED or similar incentive programs, and the ability to support related documentation and advisory work.
- Advanced skills with accounting and bookkeeping software, spreadsheets, and financial analysis tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA or in progress) and relevant experience in public practice or a similar setting.
- Knowledge of multiple industries such as retail, manufacturing, technology, or healthcare is considered an asset.
