SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Manager, System Design & Planning manages processes for reviewing and analyzing natural gas pipeline capacity against current and anticipated customer growth. This role involves long-term strategic planning, resource allocation, and coordination with various departments to ensure that the transmission, distribution and storage assets are capable of meeting contractual and operational obligations. The Manager is responsible for using the results from routine system analysis, customer forecasts, industry intelligence, as well as recent operations to direct the capital planning process.   • Non-union. This position is permanent full time.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the System Design & Planning team to maximize the development, performance and engagement of staff, including directing work and providing regular performance feedback to ensure alignment with both departmental and corporate goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate the annual review of pipeline capacity through processes including, but not limited to the Transmission Zone Analysis, Constrained Lateral Plan, Operational Forecast, and Compression Forecast.
  • Identify, develop, and recommend system improvements and capital expansions that result in improved reliability, safety or financial outcomes, bringing forward strategic projects to the Investment Governance Committee for approval.
  • Facilitate the development of the 6-year capital plan for strategic project deployment within Transmission, Distribution and Storage to ensure that contractual, operational and customer growth obligations are met.
  • Responsible for the long-term supply/demand planning process to ensure adequate infrastructure to utilize Alberta supply, Saskatchewan supply and Storage supply sources to meet the delivery needs and maintain a high level of reliability of delivery service to all TransGas customers.
  • Collaborate with System Control, Customer Services, Operations, and Infrastructure Delivery and Reliability teams to ensure a well-rounded understanding of the status of all current assets, and to gather input toward the planning for proposed future assets and customer facilities.
  • Contribute to the development or improvement of internal and corporate process improvements that support improved outcomes related to system design and planning.
  • Engage in the major strategic project execution both as a Project Sponsor, and in support of the Project Sponsors on the System Design & Planning team.
  • Manage the collection of key operational goals, metrics and objectives, capturing these on dashboards, and key performance reporting tools and creating action plans to address variances.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Petroleum, Energy, Industrial, or Electronics preferred, others may be considered).
  • Professional Engineering Designation registered to practice in Saskatchewan.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant progressive engineering experience.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and influence employee engagement while building and maintaining effective relationships and empowering team members to succeed.
  • Ability to foster a culture focused on innovation and teamwork.
  • Skilled in written and verbal communication, with experience in preparing technical or business case documents and presenting complex technical concepts to group audiences.
  • Strong understanding of pipeline systems, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.

A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered. Additional Information

  • Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters is required on occasion.
  • A Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
