Sask Sport – Participation Sport Manager Sask Sport Closes on: February 24, 2026 The Participation Sport Manager oversees participation programs within the Sport Division to strengthen community engagement and advance program development. This role works closely with key stakeholders and delivery partners, providing targeted organizational development support to enhance their capacity and effectiveness. Through an innovative and creative approach, the Participation Sport Manager helps build an environment where participatory sport opportunities are valued, accessible and responsive to the needs of people across Saskatchewan. The Successful Candidate Will Need
- Knowledge and understanding of non-profit organizations operations.
- The ability to consult and communicate effectively with diverse colleagues, members and public to understand their needs.
- The ability to build and maintain co-operative and collaborative relationships with colleagues, team members, PSO’s, external stakeholders and service providers.
- A flexible mindset, open to different and new ways of doing things and a willingness to modify one’s preferred way of doing things.
- Ability to persuade others to change and adapt to ideas or concepts to further the development of Sport, Culture and Recreation in our communities.
- Able to use analytical and conceptual thinking methods and able to modify thinking strategy situationally.
- Ability to be fiscally responsible and strategic with budgeting for department initiatives.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop strategies and approaches that encourage, empower and spread knowledge to organizations to support and enhance the Saskatchewan sport system.
- Oversee delivery of programs and services within the Participation portfolio.
- Point of contact for escalated instances while assisting direct reports in communicating with members and other stakeholders to provide timely service.
- Work with organizations and members to promote and understand grants available to them and the requirements to access these programs.
- Understanding and advising on solutions to issues or concerns our member organizations and other stakeholders may face.
- Maintain, develop and foster positive relationships with our member organization, PSO’s, MSO’s, FSIN, Districts, MNS and others to build inclusive programing.
- Generate awareness and promotion of opportunities, programs or services that can benefit organizations.
- Understand broad issues and concerns facing participation in amateur sport in the province.
- Cultivate relationships with diverse groups throughout the province to increase participation and access to opportunities.
- Assist with the implementation of changes to the Annual Funding program.
- Support members with education initiatives and learnings by, coordination of education, workshops, training, etc. opportunities for members.
- Oversee staff administrations, provide mentoring and development opportunities, including performance reviews and education.
- Collaborate with other areas within Sask Sport/Sask Lotteries, to support overall organizational strategic goals, contribute to workplace culture and provide insight through the participation lens. Finding synergy and efficiency whenever possible.
Qualifications And Experience
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Kinesiology, Sociology, Political Science, Sport, Administration (or a relevant discipline) or a strong combination of relevant training and experience.
- Minimum of five years’ experience working in an organization with grants, policy administration, community consulting and engagement.
- Experience with sport, culture, recreation management and/or nonprofit businesses would be an asset.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), sound administration and time management abilities, as well as proficiency in problem-solving and using computer programs and databases.
- Experience with computer software and data collection.
- Experience in high-performance sport and the national sport system an asset.
- Knowledge in the Provincial sport delivery system, including Long Term Development (LTD) principles, National Coaching Certification Program for Coaches, Officials’ certification components, sport development planning, organizational development, evaluation and consulting, as well as familiarity with funding programs would be an asset.
Working Conditions
- Full time (37.5 hours per week).
- Flexible hours. Evening and weekend work will be required.
- Must have a reliable source of transportation.
- Ability to lift items between 10-45 lbs.
