Working for a expanding food manufacturing company this role is an integral strategic position for the business to help them with their expansion into the Canadian market.

ResponsibilitiesFinancial Operations & Systems:

  • Manage financial process cadence (documentation, review, reporting) for US/Canada operations.
  • Develop dashboards for tracking inventory/manufacturing KPIs.

Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Build and refine financial models by business, channel, product, and customer levels to support strategic planning.
  • Implement forecasting tools to improve trends, risk visibility, and financial forecasting.
  • Analyze ROI for CAPEX projects and evaluate expansion tools.
  • Support pricing strategy and product positioning.

Manufacturing, Supply Chain & COGS Management:

  • Drive production/supply forecasts and optimize efficiency to reduce costs.
  • Improve material and labor costs for lower COGS and greater profitability in food manufacturing.
  • Manage inventory accounting, including perishable goods challenges.
  • Foster demand forecasting via S&OP process and align production planning with sales insights.
  • Oversee logistics, supply chain costs, and related optimizations.

Cross-Border Compliance & Legal Oversight:

  • Ensure compliance with US/Canadian accounting, FDA, CFIA rules, and third-party food safety audits.
  • Oversee financial reporting, tax obligations, and legal compliance for US and Canadian operations.
  • Optimize import/export processes and customs for cross-border operations, ensuring CUSMA/USMCA compliance.

Strategic Finance:

  • Lead budget creation/refinement to meet goals while maintaining accountability.
  • Assist in preparing materials for equity-based and debt financings.

Requirements

  • A designated Canadian CPA with at least 10 years of progressive experience in Finance and Accounting, and Supply Chain and Operations.
  • ERP development and enhancement experience.
  • Understanding and experience with manufacturing finance and operations, ideally within food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong FP&A experience.
  • Demonstrable strategy experience, working with business leaders to improve decision making.
  • Cross functional leadership experience, establishing budgets and promoting financial discipline.
