We are hiring for this position out of our Toronto offices. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance. About The Role The Commercial Funding Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day commercial and multi-family mortgage funding operations, ensuring funding transactions are executed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with established legal, credit, regulatory, and operational requirements. This role serves as a subject matter expert for complex and high-risk funding transactions, provides leadership and coaching to the Commercial Funding team, and partners with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues, mitigate risk, and maintain service excellence. The incumbent also supports performance management, process improvement initiatives, and the ongoing development of team capabilities. About The Day-to-day
- Oversee daily commercial and multi-family mortgage funding activities to ensure transactions are processed accurately, on time, and in accordance with approved terms and funding requirements.
- Review funding transactions for compliance with legal, credit, AML, and operational control requirements, identifying and addressing deficiencies before funding.
- Monitor funding pipelines, productivity metrics, quality standards, and service level performance, escalating and resolving operational issues as required.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and development support to Commercial Funding Administrators through regular one-on-one meetings, team huddles, and ongoing performance feedback.
- Manage escalated and complex funding matters, exercising sound judgment and determining when issues require escalation to senior leadership.
- Deliver training and guidance on funding procedures, controls, and best practices to support consistency, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and support initiatives that enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and improve the overall funding experience.
- Partner with Sales, Treasury, Legal Processing Services (LPS), Credit Risk, and other internal stakeholders to facilitate transaction completion and resolve complex issues.
- Collaborate with external parties including solicitors, insurance consultants, FNF Canada, quantity surveyors, and CMHC to ensure funding requirements and security perfection are achieved.
- Support audit readiness by ensuring funding documentation, controls, and records meet internal and regulatory standards.
About The Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in commercial mortgage funding, mortgage administration, commercial real estate financing, legal conveyancing, or a related financial services environment.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience, including coaching, development, and performance management responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and multi-family mortgage funding processes, loan documentation, security perfection, and funding controls.
- Understanding of regulatory, compliance, AML, and risk management requirements within a lending environment.
- Proven ability to manage escalated transactions, make risk-based decisions, and resolve complex operational issues.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Experience working with solicitors, insurers, CMHC, and other external service providers is considered an asset.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and mortgage administration systems.

Compensation The expected salary for this role is approximately $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 annually. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
