On behalf of our client, Northway Aviation, we are currently recruiting a Human Resources Director. This is a strategic and hands-on role responsible for managing all aspects of HR functions across two aviation entities (Northway and Sky North). This includes employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, payroll and benefits oversight, HR compliance, and supporting leadership in fostering a safe, high-performance, and people-first culture. The ideal candidate understands the importance of aligning HR with business strategy while operating in a fast-paced, regulated environment. As the Human Resources Director, you are responsible for:HR Leadership
- Primary HR leader, aligning HR practices while adapting to unique operational needs.
- Trusted advisor to leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, and strategy.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to a small HR team, including two direct reports.
- Communication and support related to HR program delivery with the departments such as performance review programs, annual pay reviews and retention initiatives
Employee Relations & Culture
- Foster strong relationships with employees and managers to promote a respectful workplace.
- Lead initiatives that support employee engagement, performance, and retention.
- Conduct investigations and manage disciplinary actions with professionalism and fairness.
Talent Acquisition and Onboarding
- Full-cycle recruitment for pilots, maintenance crews, administrative and operational roles.
- Lead onboarding programs that ensure safety readiness, cultural integration, and compliance across both entities.
Regulatory Compliance and HR Policy Development
- Ensure compliance with HR legislation and industry-specific regulatory requirements.
- Ensure annual government reporting is completed
Compensation and Benefits
- Oversee and back up payroll processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with employment standards and company policies.
- Manage group benefits programs and review programs to ensure competitiveness.
- Address employee questions about pay, time-off, and benefit matters
HR Systems & Reporting
- Lead the selection and implementation of a new HRIS system that meets the needs of both aviation entities.
- Oversee the development of processes and data workflows that ensure accurate and efficient HR recordkeeping.
- Establish reporting tools and generate regular metrics to support HR planning, compliance, and strategic decision-making.
You and Your Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field; CHRP or CPHR designation is a strong asset.
- 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role—preferably in aviation, transportation, or regulated industry.
- Experience overseeing/running payroll, proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of federal labour standards and safety-sensitive environments is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience supporting multiple business units or entities under one organization.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel between offices and work onsite.
- Demonstrated success in managing change and workforce transitions.
