Job Description Reporting directly to Manager, Production Irradiator (PI) Mechanical Engineering, you will be the technical liaison between engineering, commercial operations, procurement, and quality for all control and mechanical components. Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering requirements and specifications and work with the procurement department to ensure the correct selection and sourcing of parts, materials and equipment for successful PI deliveries and customer satisfaction levels.
  • Work with the quality department to ensure the correct critical to quality attributes are defined for incoming inspection requirements, evaluate and test components to ensure they meet specifications and standards.
  • Be responsible for component and parts lifecycle management - Monitor component obsolescence and suggest alternatives, and maintain database of approved components and items masters (e.g. in PLM system).
  • Support the procurement department by reviewing technical bids, supplier qualifications, and material specifications to approve new parts and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to clarify technical details for part sourcing, manufacturing processes for compliance documentation, quality requirements, and delivery expectations.
  • Monitor lead-times for critical-path items and working with the procurement department resolve supply chain issues that may impact project schedules.
  • Review and verify supplier technical documentation, including but not limited to, drawings, test reports, certificates of conformance, and manufacturing inspection test plans (MITP).
  • Support engineering teams with the preparation of purchase specifications, BOMs, and technical datasheets and review/approve for input into the ERP system.
  • Provide input to the purchasing and quality department on supplier performance, cost control, and quality improvement opportunities. Ensure compliance of components and parts comply with industry standards, and maintain appropriate documentation for audits and certifications.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure procurement, quality, and logistics considerations are addressed early in the process.
  • Be the lead to physically verify product shipments to customers and work with logistics, commercial operations, and procurement to facilitate the shipment.
  • Stay current with industry standards, technologies, and suppliers related to control and mechanical systems.

Education and Experience Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field. Certificates: P.Eng. designation or eligibility is an asset but not required.

  • Minimum of five years of relevant work experience, preferably in a component engineering role.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical and control system components, specifications, and standards.
  • Familiarity with procurement, quality and logistics processes to deliver quality goods and services on time and on budget.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in managing procurement and supply chain challenges.
  • Experience with ERP, PDM, and MRP systems.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control requirements.
  • Maintain documentation records for quality and tracking purposes.
  • CAD experience with 3D modeling tools.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Demonstrates financial acumen and discipline.

Additional Requirements Occasional overtime to meet project requirements Occasional travel to supplier locations and project sites (valid driver’s license). Training Required Must complete all required training and certification as a Nuclear Energy Worker if applicable
