The Role We are seeking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative Adult Registered Nurse or Midwife to join our team. Research experience is desirable but equivalent clinical experience in women’s health environments will be accepted. You will be trained and supported to coordinate the recruitment, treatment, education, monitoring and follow up of research participants and the collection and documentation of accurate study data. You will work collaboratively with Principal and Chief Investigators and the wider multi-disciplinary team in the management of your own caseload of research patients. You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.The ability to travel between all sites within NHS GGC is also essential. Driving licence is desirable.Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Location based in Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
- Permanent Contract
- Full-time position (37 hours per week)
- Shift pattern for this post are 0800 to 1700, Monday to Friday but there is a requirement to take a flexible approach in order to meet the needs of research studies, with a requirement to work unsocial hours and weekends as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- At all times maintain a professional manner with patients, colleagues and the wider multi-disciplinary team.
- Practice within the legal and ethical framework established by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and national legislation to ensure patient care is of a consistently high standard and in the patient’s best interest.
- Develop in the role by using evidence based practice and continuously improve own knowledge following PREP guidelines.
- Conduct clinical research in accordance with the current research regulatory and governance requirements.
- Develop and maintain an understanding and knowledge of the legal, ethical and professional issues surrounding the informed consent process for clinical trials.
- Comply with Data Protection legislation at all times.
- Assess, plan and prepare a safe environment to conduct study visits to ensure a high standard of care is delivered by utilising personnel, clinical experience and organisational skills.
- Provide a high standard of nursing care to patients and volunteers participating in research projects and clinical trials ensuring other members of the team are fully trained and supported.
- Organise and manage study team workload to ensure protocol compliance, objectives and the interest and safety of the patients or volunteers are fully met.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of research protocol, clinical interventions and procedures involved, ensuring study procedures comply with the research protocol and trial design.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:Minimal Requirements
- Registered Adult Nurse or Midwife, educated to degree level (or working towards)
- First level degree with evidence of continuing personal development.
- Ability to demonstrate competencies in relation to experience with evidence of clinical and technical skills including venepuncture, ILS , IV Drug administration
- Significant, current and relevant clinical experience in women’s health specialty
- Ability to prioritise own and staff workload to achieve agreed timelines, quality standards and targets.
- Experience of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
- Motivated and able to demonstrate excellent team management skills
- Ability to learn new skills to meet requirements of new research projects
Desirable
- Experience of working in both academic and commercial research
- Knowledge of current research regulations and governance requirements
