POSITION TITLE: Language & Identity Curriculum & Workshops Developer DEPARTMENT: Language & Identity CLASSIFICATION: MGO-07 SALARY RANGE: Starting at $78,030.00 Per Annum POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Temporary (2-Year Term)LOCATION: Saskatoon/Saskatchewan ACCOUNTABLE TO: Culture and Language Program Manager Brief Overview The Language & Identity Curriculum & Workshops Developer is responsible for the development, revision, and implementation of Michif-focused curricula, as well as overseeing the planning and delivery of workshops related to Métis language and culture. This role requires collaboration with internal teams and external partners to ensure that curriculum and programming are culturally accurate, pedagogically sound, and accessible across all education levels. Key Responsibilities

  • Create and facilitate the development, revision, implementation, and continuous improvement of Michif-focused curricula.
  • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of Métis language content inclusion in curricula across all fields of education (Pre-Kindergarten to Post-Secondary).
  • Identify gaps in curricula and/or resources related to Métis language, history, and culture.
  • Ensure Métis perspectives, pedagogy, and worldviews are integrated throughout Pre-Kindergarten to Post-Secondary curricula.
  • Conduct research to find appropriate resources and curricula that improve the quality of Métis language content for all learners.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders (e.g., Ministry of Education, educational institutions) to address gaps in language curricula and resources.
  • In consultation with the Manager of Culture and Language and other program stakeholders, develop an annual curriculum plan.
  • Promote, track, and measure compliance with program funding requirements by creating and implementing appropriate data collection, reporting, and/or recordkeeping processes.
  • Create beginner, intermediate, and fluent-level Michif curriculum.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the delivery of language and culture-based workshops for various audiences, including MN–S staff, community members, educators, and public sector professionals.
  • Develop workshop materials and track participation and feedback to inform future programming.
  • Collaborate and work closely with the MN–S Culture and Language team to accomplish other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education.
  • Minimum 3 year's experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to speak a Michif language, or a demonstrated willingness to actively learn and develop proficiency.
  • Experience working with Indigenous, including Métis, clients.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Knowledge of Métis culture.
  • Knowledge of the Michif Language.
  • Strong communication skills including speaking, writing, and active listening skills.
  • Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Word, Excel, database software, electronic communication tools such as Microsoft Outlook).
  • Strong time-management skills along with the ability to prioritize daily tasks, organizational skills, and effective decision-making abilities.
  • Willingness to work within a team environment.
  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills.
  • Excellent work attendance.
  • Sound problem solving and decision-making skills as well as attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal skills and an ability to demonstrate de-escalation and conflict resolution in difficult situations.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and access reliable transportation
  • Must undergo a Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector
  • Frequent local and regional travel as the successful candidate will be required to work with all school divisions across the province of Saskatchewan.
