Requisition ID: 177251 Job Level: Mid Level Home District/Group: MEC Transportation District Department: Field Supervision Market: Transportation Employment Type: Full Time Position Overview We’re seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to lead airport lighting projects across the GTA. This role involves supervising electrical crews, managing schedules and budgets, and ensuring safety and quality standards on-site. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underground and above-ground electrical systems and experience coordinating with contractors and suppliers. District Overview Mass. Electric Construction Company, a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation, is an industry leader in transit and rail system construction and maintenance throughout the United States and Canada. We specialize in the installation of overhead contact systems, traction power substations, signaling and train control, communications and control centers. Location This position is located at project sites in the Greater Toronto Area and will be required to work on projects all across the area. We offer a full relocation package for candidates from cities outside of the GTA and other provinces. Responsibilities

  • Electrical Superintendents’ responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Supervise construction projects.
  • Perform daily inspections of work performed.
  • Act as liaison and coordinator between contractors.
  • Solve problems that arise.
  • Establish budgetary guidelines for the job, and ensure that cost control measures are being followed.
  • Provide job safety training and awareness for all personnel.
  • Establish quality standards of all jobs, and ensure that all quality assurance and company standards are being met.
  • Develop and manage job schedules (e.g., three week, 90 day, man loading), coordinate work with contractors and deliveries with suppliers, and ensure inspections are scheduled appropriately.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years experience as General Foreman or Superintendent supporting large airport lighting system projects.
  • Management of union labor a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of directing and supervising electrical crews.
  • Broad understanding of technical electrical systems, including but not limited to:
  • Underground layout and installation.
  • Familiarity with airport lighting systems is a must.
  • Above ground systems layout and installations, including but not limited to:
  • Conduit installations within hazardous locations.
  • Cable tray systems.
  • Cable pulling in conduit and tray.
  • Experience managing 20-50 craft employees at one time.
  • Prepared to attend meetings with customers and owners/general contractors.
  • Must have a positive attitude and possess excellent motivational skills.
  • Adapt to new surroundings and new people.
  • Must be able to access all points of a construction site.
  • Must be able to work with a team and provide input.
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with the use of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Willing to travel to projects all across the GTA regardless of what side of town or area.

  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary
