We are currently seeking an Estimator who will support multi-family and construction projects by developing accurate, well-structured estimates that directly support purchasing, site teams, and leadership decision-making. This role requires strong technical aptitude, a solid understanding of construction methods and materials, and the ability to produce clear, reportable takeoffs and estimates. Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain standardized takeoff procedures and best practices to ensure accuracy, consistency, and efficiency
- Create, manage, and customize detailed takeoff reports and assemblies to support purchasing, site teams, finance, and leadership
- Interpret and analyze building blueprints, specifications, contract documents, and design concepts with a high level of accuracy
- Perform, audit, and deliver comprehensive construction takeoffs for all project scopes, including concrete, wood framing, exterior cladding/building envelope, and interior finishes
- Prepare clear, well-structured, and reportable estimates that are practical and usable for purchasing team and site teams, recognizing them as key internal customers
- Partner closely with estimating, purchasing, and project teams to ensure complete and accurate estimates at all stages of project development
- Work with the design team during preliminary stages to support innovative, cost-effective, and constructible design solutions
- Review plans and concepts to identify cost-saving opportunities, value engineering options, and potential logistical challenges
- Research and implement strategies to reduce material waste, optimize deliveries, and minimize re-orders
- Analyze current and historical budgets, expenses, and product performance to provide recommendations that support business growth and issue resolution
- Conduct market research to identify new tools, programs, and technologies that enhance estimating accuracy, efficiency, and service delivery
- Demonstrate strong technical aptitude, with the ability to quickly learn existing systems and proactively recommend improved or new software solutions
- Meet with vendors to stay current on new products, including green and sustainable materials
- Participating in department meetings to understand cross-functional needs and priorities
- Identify gaps between departments and actively support solutions that improve collaboration and workflows
- Create, present, and help implement process and procedural improvements that drive efficiency and continuous improvement
- Remain adaptable and open to change, consistently seeking better ways to complete work and improve outcomes
- Conduct site visits as required to support estimating accuracy and operational alignment
- Other duties as may be assigned by the Director
Skills And Experience
- Diploma or degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field
- 1–2 years of estimating experience in residential, commercial, or multi-family construction (GC or design-build experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of estimating methods, construction materials, contracts, specifications, and construction practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software such as PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, or equivalent
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with accountability
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to sites as required
