Business Analyst

The Intermediate Business Analyst will join a team supporting compliance, risk, and AML-focused initiatives within the Digital Banking group at one of the Big 5 Canadian Banks. This role requires strong collaboration with business stakeholders and technical teams to gather and document business requirements, perform data analysis using SQL and Excel, and lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Partnering with AML and Risk teams to define requirements for transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting, and regulatory compliance.
• Gathering and documenting business requirements for AML insights dashboards, risk exposure reports, and compliance workflows.
• Validating data accuracy and integrity across multiple banking systems, ensuring alignment with AML and risk frameworks.
• Coordinating with QA teams to document issues, track remediation, and ensure deliverables meet compliance standards.
• Supporting enhancements to digital banking processes to strengthen controls and mitigate financial crime risks.

A strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and excellent communication skills are essential. Experience in banking and financial services is mandatory, and prior exposure to AML or risk projects is a strong asset.

Required Skills and Experience

• 5–7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst
• Mandatory banking or financial services experience
• Strong SQL and Excel skills for data analysis and validation
• Hands-on experience supporting and executing UAT
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently

Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience

• Experience with AML systems, transaction monitoring, and regulatory reporting
• Familiarity with risk assessment frameworks and compliance processes
• Knowledge of tools such as Actimize, SAS AML, or similar platforms
