Applicants should always verify the legitimacy of such communications and contact the organization directly through official channels to confirm.Terms: Full-time, Permanent Starting Salary: Commensurate with Experience Location: Ottawa (Hybrid Work Model) About The Role An Accounts Payable Officer reporting to the Assistant Controller for the accurate and timely fulfillment of HSO’s financial obligations towards staff, surveyors/assessors, government and other vendors. The Accounts Payable Officer will work as an individual contributor supporting our internal finance and risk performance team and our external clients by offering their in-depth understanding of the Accounts Payable function and applicable internal controls. This position will leverage your diverse financial background, critical thinking and analytical mindset to address operational challenges while providing outstanding customer service to internal and external clients. Main Responsibilities
- Analyzing and verifying the accuracy of purchase orders, invoices, expense claims, statements and other related documents.
- Meticulous verification of vendor accounts and accounts payable documentation, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Work with our colleagues and clients to solve problems and challenges to address our accounts payable month end timelines, ensuring that payments are processed accurately.
- Maintain regular and effective communication across internal teams and with clients. This includes gathering information and sharing updates to meet our operational needs.
- Assist with month-end close activities and reconciliations.
Must Have Qualifications
- University degree or College diploma in Accounting, Business or similar field.
- 2 years of full-cycle Accounts Payable experience.
- Have experience with purchase order management.
- Having an eye for details with accounting practices and finance operations.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience with finance tools and data systems specifically, Microsoft Business Central, or other ERP systems, and MS Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual in Canadian Official Languages (French and English).
- Have accounting/finance industry knowledge and experience (public and/or private health care, in Ontario and Quebec).

- Be trusted to record financial transactions related to accounts payable and reconciling the A/P subledgers with the general ledger to ensure accurate reporting.
- Prepare and process payments to vendors and staff according to HSO’s policy and procedures.
