Our client is a leading organization within the energy sector, supporting large-scale operations and capital projects across North America. They are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join their Supply Chain team and support procurement activities across a diverse range of commodities and materials.
Your New Role
As the Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for leading procurement activities for assigned projects and commodity groups, ensuring materials and services are sourced efficiently while delivering commercial value and mitigating risk.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead procurement activities for assigned projects and commodity categories.
- Develop and manage RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs.
- Conduct bid analysis, commercial evaluations, and supplier negotiations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for purchase orders within assigned areas.
- Collaborate with suppliers and key stakeholders across Engineering, Projects, Legal, Risk, and Supply Chain.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier information in SAP.
- Review technical specifications and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Identify cost-saving opportunities, process improvements, and sourcing efficiencies.
- Monitor supplier performance, market trends, and cost drivers to support business decisions.
- Support strategic sourcing and continuous improvement initiatives.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Minimum 5 years of procurement, sourcing, or buying experience.
- Must have hands-on SAP experience within a Buyer role.
- Experience managing RFQs, RFPs, RFIs, supplier evaluations, and purchase orders.
- Strong understanding of commercial negotiations, contract terms, and procurement processes.
- Experience supporting industrial, energy, manufacturing, engineering, utility, or large project environments.
- Ability to interpret bills of materials, technical specifications, and project requirements.
- Experience sourcing industrial materials such as pipe, valves, fittings, MRO materials, equipment, or related commodities is considered an asset.
