The Opportunity:
GagaMuller is supporting the delivery of major hyperscale data centre developments in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
As the MEP Construction Manager, you will provide client-side oversight and leadership of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Working closely with the Project Director, Project Managers, Design Teams, General Contractors, MEP Contractors, Commissioning Teams, Project Controls, Cost Management, Quality, and Safety functions, you will ensure MEP works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved design, programme, budget, quality, and commissioning requirements.
You will provide technical and delivery leadership across the MEP scope, coordinating multiple disciplines and stakeholders from design development and procurement through installation, testing, commissioning, and client handover.
This role offers the opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of major mission critical infrastructure while developing your expertise within a growing international Project Management Consultancy.
Responsibilities:
1. MEP Construction Delivery
- Lead client-side oversight of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction activities across the project.
- Monitor MEP installation and construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and project requirements.
- Coordinate MEP construction activities with the overall project programme and construction sequence.
- Review contractor methodologies, construction programmes, sequencing plans, and installation strategies.
- Monitor progress against agreed milestones and identify potential delays, constraints, and recovery requirements.
- Coordinate interfaces between MEP systems, architectural works, structural works, civil works, and other construction disciplines.
- Ensure MEP construction activities are coordinated to support testing, commissioning, and client handover requirements.
2. Technical & Design Coordination
- Work closely with design teams, consultants, contractors, and specialist subcontractors to resolve technical and construction-related issues.
- Review design information, technical submissions, shop drawings, RFIs, and method statements where required.
- Identify design coordination issues and ensure timely resolution to prevent impact to construction activities.
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and specialist systems interfaces.
- Support constructability reviews and identify opportunities to improve installation, sequencing, quality, and project delivery.
- Ensure construction activities remain aligned with the approved design intent and client requirements.
3. Construction Management & Site Coordination
- Provide day-to-day client-side leadership and coordination of MEP construction activities on site.
- Coordinate MEP contractors and specialist subcontractors across multiple workstreams.
- Lead and participate in construction coordination meetings, technical reviews, and progress meetings.
- Monitor site activities, installation quality, sequencing, productivity, and workforce coordination.
- Identify site constraints, clashes, access issues, and interface risks and drive timely resolution.
- Maintain strong communication between site teams, project management, design, commissioning, and client stakeholders.
- Promote a proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach to construction delivery.
4. Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Monitor MEP construction activities to ensure compliance with project quality requirements, approved documentation, and applicable codes and standards.
- Work closely with Quality and Safety teams to promote high standards across all MEP construction activities.
- Review inspection and test plans, quality documentation, inspection records, and non-conformance issues.
- Support the identification, management, and close-out of construction defects and quality issues.
- Ensure MEP construction activities are planned and executed in accordance with applicable health and safety requirements.
- Support project teams in maintaining a strong safety culture across the construction site.
5. Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Coordinate MEP construction activities with the project commissioning strategy and programme.
- Ensure systems are installed, tested, documented, and prepared for commissioning in accordance with project requirements.
- Work closely with commissioning teams, contractors, consultants, and client representatives throughout testing and commissioning activities.
- Monitor commissioning readiness and identify outstanding construction activities that could impact system turnover.
- Support integrated systems testing and final commissioning activities where required.
- Ensure MEP documentation, records, testing results, deficiencies, and close-out requirements are completed prior to client handover.
6. Project Controls & Stakeholder Management
- Work collaboratively with Project Controls, Planning, Cost Management, Commercial, Design, Procurement, Quality, Safety, and Commissioning teams.
- Monitor MEP construction progress against programme, budget, and key project milestones.
- Identify construction risks, changes, and potential impacts to cost and schedule.
- Provide regular reporting on MEP construction progress, risks, issues, and recovery actions.
- Support the assessment and management of contractor change, variations, and commercial matters.
- Build trusted relationships with client representatives, contractors, consultants, and supply chain partners.
Qualifications
- Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building services systems.
- Extensive knowledge of MEP construction methodologies, installation, coordination, testing, and commissioning.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, technical documentation, and construction sequencing.
- Experience working with project management, scheduling, cost management, and reporting systems.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with the ability to manage complex construction interfaces.
