- Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
- This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.

Team Overview Our Employee Care Centre is currently looking for a reliable team player, with a client service focus, to provide HR support to EDC employees. The successful incumbent will be highly organized, able to multi-task and work independently. The Associate HR Advisor role involves dealing with HR inquiries, performing HR operational tasks and problem solving. Strong interpersonal skills and a great attention to detail will be essential for this position. What You Will Be Doing
- Provide interpretation, guidance, and advice on HR-related policies, programs, and complex processes, referring to others for interpretation when necessary.
- Investigate and respond to standard and non-standard HR-related inquiries, consulting with subject matter experts for more complex issues.
- Respond to employee enquiries using an intake management system and provide support related to HR functional areas, such as leave, benefits and probation administration, performance management, and the Employee Care SharePoint site.
- Participate in student onboarding and training.
- Coordinate the retiree death process with families and service providers, and ensure seamless program administration for long-service awards and EDC family scholarships in collaboration with other departments and external vendors.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and build effective working relationships within and outside HR to deliver high-quality professional services, ensuring consistency and compliance with company policies and procedures, with guidance from senior colleagues.
- Support the delivery and analysis of ECC statistics and HR data, interpreting results to identify possible answers and solutions.
- Validate the quarterly international expat allowances.
- Identify gaps in information or documentation currently available and may coordinate small projects with moderate guidance to develop new or improved content.
- Review existing operations in own area of work and implement innovation processes to generate new ideas and ensure continuous improvements are delivered.
- Identify instances of non-compliance with the organization's policies and procedures, reporting these and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Support inclusion, diversity, and equity (ID&E) initiatives and represent the organization's practices professionally throughout our programs.
What We Are Looking For
- Completed an undergraduate degree in Business Administration or Human Resources
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in human resources management, or related experience
- Strong employee focus and demonstrated initiative.
- Excellent customer service, communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Well-developed analytical, mathematical, problem-solving and organizational skills, with excellent judgment.
- Detail oriented, highly organized and able to work independently
- Basic knowledge of human resources management principles and practices
- Bilingual in English & French
