Kennel Attendant | $17–$20/hour

Location: Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

Schedule: Full-Time | Three 12-hour shifts per week

Compensation: $17–$20/hour

Maritime Veterinary Emergency + Specialty Centre (MVESC) is hiring a full-time Kennel Attendant to join our Emergency & Specialty animal hospital in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This role is ideal for someone passionate about animal care who enjoys staying organized, supporting veterinary teams, and helping create a clean and safe environment for patients.

As a Kennel Attendant at MVESC, you’ll play an important role in supporting daily hospital operations while working alongside a collaborative team dedicated to exceptional patient care.

Schedule

  • Targeting three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Mix of days, evenings, weekends, and holidays - Flexibility required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the hospital, including kennels, treatment areas, laundry, dishes, and common spaces
  • Restock hospital supplies and ensure work areas remain organized
  • Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care needs
  • Observe animal behavior and wellbeing, reporting concerns promptly to the medical team
  • Assist with safe animal restraint when needed
  • Complete additional hospital support duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Compassionate, dependable, and professional attitude
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Comfortable handling dogs and cats of various sizes and temperaments
  • Able to perform physical tasks including lifting, standing, bending, and cleaning throughout the shift
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced veterinary hospital environment
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
