Financial Empowerment is not a stand-alone service, it is a core practice embedded across our programs, strengthening outcomes and advancing equity for the individuals and families we serve.The Director, Financial Empowerment provides leadership for e4c’s Financial Empowerment portfolio, including its core services: the Financial Management Hub (FM HUB) and Make Tax Time Pay (MTTP). This role plays a critical part in ensuring Financial Empowerment remains sustainable, integrated, and responsive to community needs.Reporting to the CEO, the Director advances strategic direction, oversees service performance and financial integrity, and supports the growth and long-term sustainability of Financial Empowerment as an organization-wide practice embedded across e4c programs and operations.Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Leadership & Strategic Oversight
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for Financial Empowerment services, including FM HUB, MTTP, financial coaching, and benefits navigation.
- Ensure services are integrated across e4c programs and delivered in a low-barrier, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive manner.
- Set service priorities and standards aligned with organizational strategy, operational plans, and funding frameworks.
- Guide the growth and evolution of Financial Empowerment in response to emerging community needs and opportunities.
Financial Management & In-Trust Oversight
- Develop and manage portfolio-level budgets, ensuring responsible stewardship of operating, grant, contract, and in-trust resources.
- Oversee in-trust financial systems and maintain strong internal controls, compliance, and audit readiness.
- Monitor financial performance and proactively address risks or variances.
Funding, Contracts & External Accountability
- Serve as the operational lead with funders and partners, ensuring strong relationships and clear communication.
- Oversee funding agreements, reporting requirements, and deliverables.
- Lead funding proposals and renewals to support sustainability and growth.
People Leadership & Supervision
- Provide leadership and supervision to Team Leads and Financial Empowerment staff, ensuring clarity, accountability, and alignment.
- Foster professional development, reflective practice, and team learning.
- Promote a respectful, inclusive, and trauma-informed workplace culture.
Program Quality, Data & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure systems are in place to monitor service delivery, outcomes, and participant progress.
- Use data and feedback to inform strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Oversee service standards and risk mitigation practices.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with legislation, funding agreements, organizational policies, and ethical standards.
- Identify and manage operational, financial, and participant-level risks.
- Maintain safeguards that promote autonomy, informed choice, and appropriate professional boundaries.
Leadership & Organizational Contribution
- Position Financial Empowerment as a core organizational practice that strengthens outcomes across e4c.
- Contribute to cross-program collaboration and organizational strategic planning.
- Represent e4c professionally with community and sector partners.
What You Bring To The Team
- Degree in Human Services, Social Sciences, Finance, Business Administration, Public Policy, or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in human services or community-based environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading multiple programs, managing budgets, and driving strategic change.
- Strong financial acumen and experience working with complex funding agreements.
- Experience working with government and contract funders.
- Deep understanding of trauma-informed practice, harm reduction, financial inclusion, and poverty-related issues.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and strategic leadership skills.
- Professional financial designation (CPA, CFP, QAFP, etc.) is an asset.
