We are looking for candidates with strong technical expertise to fill this role. Below are the details of the position:

IT Risk & Compliance SpecialistLocation: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Duration: 12-Month Contract (Extension & Permanent Conversion Possible)

Job Summary

We are seeking an Intermediate Technology Compliance Specialist to support technology risk and compliance initiatives within a leading financial institution's Technology & Operations organization. Operating within the First Line of Defense, you will help strengthen technology control environments, manage compliance activities, and partner with technology teams to ensure alignment with enterprise risk standards and regulatory expectations.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to multiple technology portfolios, emerging technologies, and enterprise risk programs, with the potential for permanent employment based on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support technology risk and compliance frameworks, including policy, risk, and control (PRC) activities.
  • Manage the end-to-end issue management lifecycle, including identification, tracking, remediation, and closure.
  • Partner with technology teams to embed compliance and control requirements into projects and operational processes.
  • Maintain and enhance technology control inventories and control libraries.
  • Identify control gaps and recommend improvements to strengthen the organization's risk posture.
  • Provide risk advisory support across technology domains, including cybersecurity, cloud, data, and AI governance.
  • Prepare dashboards, reports, and risk metrics for leadership and senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise policies, regulatory expectations, and internal governance standards.

Required Technical Skills

  • 4–6 years of experience in Technology Risk, IT Compliance, IT Controls, or Operational Risk within financial services or another highly regulated industry.
  • Strong understanding of technology risk frameworks, including operational risk, cybersecurity, cloud risk, and SDLC controls.
  • Experience working with governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) platforms such as Archer, GRCE, or similar tools.
  • Proven experience managing issue remediation and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for reporting, analysis, and dashboard creation.
  • Experience maintaining technology control frameworks and supporting audit or regulatory compliance initiatives.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience within a large enterprise or banking environment.
  • Exposure to AI governance, data governance, cloud governance, or emerging technology risk.
  • Experience using ServiceNow or similar workflow and ticketing platforms.

Nice to Have

  • Professional certifications such as CISA, CRISC, CISSP, or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting enterprise governance, risk, and compliance reporting.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive issue resolution.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

Work Arrangement

  • Hybrid work model.
  • Monday is a mandatory in-office day, with one additional flexible in-office day.
  • During onboarding and training, increased on-site attendance will be expected.
