Job Description
Posted on: July 13, 2025
- Lead the structural stress analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures (e.g., fuselage, wing, empennage, landing gear attachments, pylon, nacelles).
- Perform static strength, fatigue, and damage tolerance analyses using both classical methods and finite element models.
- Support the development and validation of structural designs in collaboration with design, manufacturing, loads, and systems teams.
- Validate structural designs using classical hand calculations, FEM (Finite Element Modeling), and industry-standard tools (e.g., NASTRAN, Patran, HyperMesh, FEMAP, etc.).
- Conduct trade studies and optimization for weight and performance improvements.
- Provide technical guidance throughout the aircraft development lifecycle, including PDR/CDR, prototype build, and flight test.
- Develop and review structural substantiation reports in support of FAA/EASA certification (Part 25 compliance).
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including DERs, regulators, suppliers, and OEM partners.
- Mentor and review work of junior analysts; contribute to development of best practices and internal standards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of materials, industry standards, and evolving analysis methods.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in structural stress analysis within commercial aircraft development programs.
- In-depth knowledge of composite and metallic structures, fatigue and damage tolerance methodologies, and material behavior.
- Proficient in industry-standard tools: NASTRAN, Patran, FEMAP, HyperMesh, Abaqus, or equivalent.
- Strong background in FAR/CS-25 structural requirements and compliance documentation.
- Experience preparing and reviewing certification-level reports (stress, fatigue, DTA, compliance matrices).
- Proficient in interpreting loads models, structural drawings, and manufacturing constraints.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience interfacing with certification authorities.
- Is proficient with Microsoft Office Tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a full life-cycle civil aircraft development program (from concept through certification and production).
- Familiarity with scripting (VBA, Python, MATLAB) for automation or data processing.
- Previous interaction with FAA/EASA and working knowledge of the certification process.
- Experience with aircraft OEMs or major Tier 1 suppliers.
