We are seeking an individual to join our growing Finance Department. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role will work with CRAFT’s Finance Department and play a critical leadership role in ensuring the financial health, operational integrity and long-term sustainability of CRAFT. The Controller oversees the full cycle of accounting, payroll, treasury, budgeting, internal financial controls, regulatory compliance, as well as budget preparation and financial reporting for the team and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of accounting experience and is excited to be an imperative part of our growth.

Due to the nature of this role, it is essential that this individual is a strong leader and will conduct themselves with professionalism and confidentiality. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and with others. This position will be based out of our head office in Calgary, Alberta.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage full-cycle accounting, including daily reconciliations, general ledger activity, and vendor communications
  • Review biweekly accounts payable transactions for accuracy and completeness, promptly identifying and resolving any discrepancies
  • Lead and process biweekly payroll cycles for Canadian and US locations
  • Prepare and review consolidated financial statements across Canadian and US locations
  • Support period-end and year-end closing processes
  • Coordinate external audits and tax filings in Canada and the US, serving as the primary liaison with auditors, CRA, IRS, and other regulatory authorities
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, ensuring compliance with Canadian and US regulations
  • Support budgeting and forecasting, including planning for new openings, cross-border growth, and long-term financial modelling
  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting team members
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as required

What You've Done:

  • Required: Accounting Degree and CPA designation
  • Preferred: Experience with US accounting regulations
  • Accounting: 5-7 years’ experience
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Ability to work within established deadlines and time constraints
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Superior organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
