Job Profile
Under the general direction of the Corporate FIPPA Coordinator, the FIPPA Access and Privacy Coordinator is responsible for providing corporate direction on the implementation of access and privacy standards, policies, and procedures, and for coordinating corporate access to information requests under The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and The Personal Health Information Act.
As the Access & Privacy Coordinator , you will :
- Coordinate access to information requests under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
- Implement corporate procedures for managing access to information requests.
- Implement corporate procedures for the protection of privacy.
- Provide training and guidance for FIPPA in terms of the access to information process as well as the protection of privacy.
- Acts as an Election Officer.
- Bachelor¿s Degree (Public Administration, preferred).
- Certificate in Records and Information Management would be an asset.
- 12 months previous experience reading, interpreting and applying access and privacy legislation.
- Ability to exercise personal initiative and sound judgement.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization, as well as with elected officials, the public, and the media.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with staff, senior management, elected officials, the public and the media.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and to organize and prioritize work load.
- Ability to handle sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy, and to clearly and effectively articulate the City¿s position without compromising its interests.
- Ability to undertake independent research and prepare various reports, briefing notes, and correspondence, as required.
- Ability to deal discreetly with highly confidential matters.
- Ability to work under pressure; set, coordinate and/or juggle multiple priorities; and meet deadlines.
- Ability to prepare and conduct presentations and training sessions.
- Ability to provide procedural and policy advice regarding established legislation, policies, standards, practices, and guidelines.
- Ability to effectively utilize word processing, database, and other related software.
- Ability to quickly read, analyze and interpret complex documents containing unfamiliar technical, financial, commercial, policy, legal and/or political information.
- Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to develop creative but carefully considered and practical solutions to problems.

Position Reports To: Corporate FIPPA Coordinator
- *In accordance with Article 4, an employee who enters the bargaining unit on or after the date of ratification [October 29, 2020] shall be placed on Schedule A-2.
Employees of the bargaining unit who are on Schedule A-1 at the time of ratification will continue to be paid in accordance with Schedule A-1 until they are the successful applicant to a position at a higher Administrative Salary Level (Grade) or they (or the Association on their behalf) initiate a successful reclassification to a higher Administrative Salary Level (Grade) in which case they will be placed on Schedule A-2 and subsequently follow article 25-2 (Position Evaluation - Treatment of Incumbents).
