As the Coordinator, Utility Generalists you will lead a team of engineers and technologists who form part of the Development Applications Review Team (DART) and will review development applications from an engineering perspective. In this position, you will guide this strong team towards innovative engineering solutions to complex city-building problems. Primary duties include:
- Lead the technical review of development applications to ensure infrastructure is safe and sustainable.
- Manage the team's performance results and resource needs.
- Oversee projects and initiatives that improve our workflow, delegated authority and processes.
- Advocate for the needs of your team as a member of the leadership structure.
- Participate in changes to technical specifications and report standards to ensure current best practices in the field of municipal engineering are being followed.
- Coordinate issue escalations from citizens, Councilors, or other City business units.
- Represent engineering decisions at Calgary Planning Commission and Council.
- Act as the APEGA Responsible Member for the Utility Generalist team.
- Mentor and coach staff as it relates to the City's role in the land development process.
Qualifications
- A degree in Engineering with at least 10 years of relevant professional engineering experience working in the public or private sector obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work Click here for more details.

Workstyle: This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees.
