Senior Manager, Product Verification – Optical Networks

• Manage and mentor a team of test engineers, fostering career development and providing regular feedback.
• Oversee Product Verification deliverables, ensuring staffing, prioritization, and milestone adherence.
• Lead test initiatives, advancing strategies with Software Development in Test and AI applications.
• Collaborate with the Automation Infrastructure Team for test software development.
• Drive cross-departmental success for strategic programs.
• Develop and implement innovative test strategies for Optical Networks.

The Must Haves

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Optical Communications.
• Minimum of 10 years of system testing experience within the optical networking domain.
• Solid expertise in Optical Networking Technologies, including OTN Transport & DWDM.
• Proficiency in test automation using Python, frameworks, and git-based systems.
• Experience with model-based network management protocols and interfaces (gRPC, Netconf, Rest, SNMP, CLI).
• Strong interpersonal and analytical skills with a customer-focused mindset.

The Assets

• Familiarity with 3rd party traffic generators (Viavi, Ixia) and lab infrastructure equipment (Attenuators, Optical Switches).
• Experience in test effort estimation, test case planning, and lab resource optimization.
• Knowledge of AI-driven testing methodologies and tools.

Pay Range The salary range for this role in Ottawa is $124, 000 - $198, 200 Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available. Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
