The Opportunity Seeking a talented and self-motivated Operational Accounting Chargeback Specialist to join our team. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for researching chargebacks and building dispute cases with our customers to recover funds on unauthorized charges. The Chargeback Specialist has an eye for detail and is extremely organized in maintaining proper documentation of chargeback statuses. Additionally, they will understand and follow current procedures and identify method improvements to ensure financial transactions are accurate and appropriate. This is an onsite position working out of our Edmonton office Monday through Friday. What You Will Do
- Primarily responsible for managing and reconciling open chargebacks and dispute payments on accounts receivable
- Analysis of disputes from both a current and historical perspective to understand the root cause of disputes, develop and implement solutions to minimize or prevent them going forward
- Collaborate with AR team, internal departments and customers to maximize recovery and prevention of chargebacks
- Establish procedures for timely resolution of chargebacks, monitor compliance and report findings to management
- Partner with internal/external departments to highlight and resolve open chargebacks.
- Update and analyze reporting.
RequirementsWhat You Will Need to Succeed
- Payments Industry experience preferred.
- 3 - 5 years of direct chargeback experience preferred·
- Knowledge of check, ACH, wire, debit/credit card and other payment channels operating rules·
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Accounts Receivable functions preferred·
- Must have experience working directly with merchant processors (i.e., WorldPay/Vantiv/Elavon/PayPal/Amex).
- Must be persistent and have effective follow-up skills· Very strong analytical skills and other duties as assigned.
- 3+ years of experience "Hands On" in a high-volume transactional and fast-paced business environment.
- Ability to self-manage.
- High proficiency in the Microsoft suite with an emphasis in excel (VLOOKUPS, Pivot tables, and general excel rules).
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented and process-oriented approach.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills are required.
- Ability to work cross functionally to mitigate issues related to client funding.
- Ability to apply sound judgment.
- Ability to adapt to change due to system updates.
- Proficient communication skills.
