We are currently partnered with a growing midstream company in Calgary, seeking an experienced Director of Operations. The Director of Operations will be based in the Calgary office reporting to the Vice President of Operations. The ideal candidate will have senior management experience in a dynamic business setting. The role requires outstanding organizational, communication, and leadership skills and an ability to develop solutions that deliver results and where warranted push boundaries. The Director of Operations will be a key member of the company's Business Leadership Team working closely with executives to strategize and develop long-term plans that usher in new levels of success and sustainability for the Company.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Overall accountability for delivery of safe, reliable operations;
- Strong cultivation of a culture of safety and performance;
- General oversight of all field operations, including oil and gas facilities and power generation facilities;
- Provide direct supervision of several forepersons;
- Manage implementation and effectiveness of corporate programs for field facilities (health, safety, environment, metering, integrity, etc.).
- Manage all field staff and contractors;
- Address employee relations issues as they arise in the field;
- Assure operator competency and provide training;
- Provide technical support and guidance to operations and maintenance personnel;
- Provision of strategic insights and establishment of priorities for long-term planning initiatives for field operations;
- Implementation of long-term operations initiatives such as training programs, maintenance systems, operations risk management programs, and other management system elements;
- Collaboration cross-functionally with other departments for seamless workflows and continuous improvement;
- Management of operational risk of daily operations at all facilities and provision recommendations for improvements;
- Oversight of safety performance and provision recommendations for improvements;
- Oversight of production, measurement, product quality, and production reporting ;
- Oversight of facility budgets and general oversight of cost management;
Required Skills & Experience:
- 15+ years facilities engineering or operational experience within the oil and gas industry,
- 10+ years of managerial experience in industrial operations,
- An engineering degree with professional registration (P.Eng) or professional commercial experience with an operational background preferred;
- Thorough understanding of midstream and utility assets and the business drivers underpinning their utilization;
- Experience in power generation preferred;
- Operations Excellence experience in the development, use, and continuous improvement of management systems and processes;
- Strong familiarity with regulations applicable to the operation and maintenance of oil and gas and power generation facilities;
- Ability and willingness to make timely technical decisions and recommendations in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong leadership and ability to coach and mentor team members;
- Strong ability to develop effective personal relationships, especially cross-functional relationships, and to exercise good professional judgement;
- Willingness to travel regularly to operating sites.
