Benarzi Law is seeking a reliable and experienced Legal Assistant to join a growing family law practice in downtown Calgary.
This role is best suited for someone with prior experience working as a legal assistant, ideally in family law or litigation.
You will play an important role in ensuring files move efficiently through the court process while maintaining excellent client service. The successful candidate will act as a key administrative support for the lawyer while helping maintain organized, well-managed client files.
This position offers the opportunity to become a key part of a growing practice and take on increasing responsibility as the firm expands.Work Schedule
Full-time
8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (1 hour lunch)
Office closed on statutory holidays and December 25 – January 1Salary
$50,000 – $65,000 annually (gross)
Salary dependent on experience, training, and prior qualifications.
Vacation
2 weeks per year

Work Arrangement
This is primarily an in-office role in downtown Calgary.
There may be potential for limited remote flexibility depending on case flow, demonstrated capabilities, and earned trust.
Responsibilities
Prepare, organize, and file family law court documents including:
• Financial disclosure packages
• Affidavits
• Statements of Claim and Responses
• Applications and Replies
• MIT packages
• Other Family Focused Protocol filings
Maintain ongoing Alberta Commissioner for Oaths status to:
- administer oaths,
- take and receive affidavits, affirmations or declarations, and
- attest the oaths, affidavits, affirmations or declarations.
Additional responsibilities include:
• Client communications for non-legal correspondence
• Assisting with client intake and information gathering
• Communicating with court clerks and other legal offices
• Reviewing and proofreading legal documents and correspondence
• Scheduling appointments, meetings, and conferences
• Maintaining legal filing systems and client records
• Managing incoming mail and communications
• Coordinating information flow with other firms or organizations
• Assisting with office procedures and administrative tasks
• Answering phone calls and welcoming clients
• Attending meetings or court when required to take notes or minutes
• Cutting and depositing cheques and completion of in person bank errands
Qualifications
• Prior experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in family law
• Proficiency preparing legal documents and managing court filings
• Strong communication and client service skills
• Excellent organizational and administrative abilities
• High attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced legal environment
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally
Assets
• Familiarity with Alberta family law procedures
• Experience preparing family law court documents
• Experience with Clio Manage or similar legal practice management software
• Proficient in using Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel, as well as cloud-based practice management systems and digital document workflows
