Job Description:
On behalf of our Enterprise client, Affinity is looking for bring on a Scrum Master with Project Manager expertise. This is a 12 month contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a servant leader for two Agile teams, fostering collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement
- Lead Scrum ceremonies: sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Guide effective sprint planning, incorporating capacity planning across all key resources
- Facilitate communication within teams and between Agile teams and business stakeholders
- Coach team members on Agile principles and Scrum roles
- Maintain sprint metrics and process documentation
- Promote a culture of accountability, self-organization, and autonomous decision-making
Stakeholder Engagement & Backlog Management
- Partner with product owners, business stakeholders, and project managers to prioritize the product backlog
- Ensure backlog aligns with business goals and evolving priorities
- Remove team impediments in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
Quality & Delivery Support
- Support implementation of process changes to meet sprint quality standards
- Ensure deliverables meet expectations at the end of each sprint
Project Management (as needed)
- Manage projects that feed into the Scrum cycle
- Define inception and planning deliverables (e.g., team composition, technical strategy, release plans, risk assessments)
- Maintain and manage the project backlog to reflect scope, deadlines, and priorities
- Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and issues
- Define and coordinate transition and go-live readiness activities
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience
- 3–5 years as a Scrum Master, Project Manager, or similar role (ideally in a global/distributed team environment)
- Strong understanding of Agile principles; practical experience with Scrum and/or Kanban
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels
- Strong organizational, conflict resolution, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience working with cross-functional software development teams
- Familiarity with Agile tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira
- Comfortable working across time zones in fast-paced, high-priority environments
- Experience with finance-related applications is preferred
