Job DescriptionAECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Digital Solutions Specialist (GIS & Digital Delivery) to support and grow our Digital Environment practice in Western Canada. This role combines hands-on GIS project delivery with business development support, technical leadership, and mentorship, contributing to the continued growth of AECOM’s digital capabilities. This position offers opportunities to contribute regionally, with potential involvement in national and international initiatives. Responsibilities:
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and associated software to produce, display, and analyze geographic information.
- Manage GIS projects from conception to completion.
- Provide leadership and guidance to GIS Specialists and Data Analytics Specialists in geospatial data analysis and visualization
- Develop and maintain databases, reports, and mapping.
- Create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes.
- Perform quality assurance of GIS data and associated graphic components.
- Support digital data collection programs and contribute to GIS data extraction for clients.
- Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
- Prepare and update metadata, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
- Support proposal development, including technical inputs, scope development, and effort estimation.
- Assist project managers with planning and execution of GIS and digital deliverables.
- Identify opportunities to enhance project outcomes through GIS and digital solutions.
- Contribute to the growth and advancement of AECOM’s GIS and Digital practice in the region.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related field is required.
- 6+ years of relevant GIS experience.
- Proficient use of ArcGIS and other GIS databases.
- Familiarity with ESRI desktop mapping and analysis tools and extensions (ArcGIS Online, Portal, Web Apps, Survey 123, etc.).
- Understanding of complex relational database organization, design, and functionality.
- Proficiency in the processing and analysis of raster and vector geospatial data.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cartographic design and production concepts and principles.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication in both verbal and written forms.
- Familiarity with GIS production environments.
- Basic application and tool development skills using Model Builder, Python, or Visual Basic.
- Working knowledge of LiDAR and raster processing techniques.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant GIS experience.
- Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise administration, including Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Server.
- Experience managing enterprise geospatial databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, ArcSDE).
- Experience developing web maps, dashboards, and applications using ArcGIS, PowerBI, Power Automate, Design.
- Experience supporting proposals and business development activities.
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff.
- Experience supporting environmental, infrastructure, or engineering projects.
- Master’s degree in a related field is an asset.
