Job DescriptionPosition Overview AECOM’s Buildings + Places (B+P) division is seeking a Project Engineer to lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of complex building and infrastructure projects. This role bridges construction management leadership with engineering expertise, ensuring that design intent aligns seamlessly with project schedules, budgets, quality objectives, and stakeholder expectations. The Project Engineer will be accountable for scope, schedule, budget, risk management, and stakeholder coordination across all phases of project delivery from design conception through construction execution and closeout. This position offers significant exposure to multidisciplinary collaboration and the opportunity to contribute to AECOM"s reputation for delivering safe, durable, and sustainable facilities. Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning and Coordination
- Lead multidisciplinary teams concurrently across design, procurement, and construction
- phases.
- Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and performance metrics to ensure
- successful delivery.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and project managers to integrate structural
- systems within overall project objectives.
- Prepare technical drawings and specifications and contribute to project documentation.
- Ensure project deliverables meet quality, budget, and schedule expectations with little
- supervision.
- Provide technical or operational guidance to less experienced engineers, EIT’s and technicians.
- Stay updated on industry codes, regulations, and best practices to ensure high-quality
- design solutions
Construction Oversight & Contract Administration
- Manage procurement processes, negotiate subcontracts, and oversee consultant
- deliverables.
- Administer contracts, review change orders, and ensure compliance with specifications
- and standards.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues proactively, and ensure
- constructability and durability of structural systems.
Risk Management & Quality Assurance
- Identify risks and implement mi ga on strategies using project management best
- practices.
- Ensure adherence to safety requirements, corporate standards, and applicable building
- codes.
- Provide technical input as part of quality assurance, confirming material selec on and
- lifecycle efficiency.
Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
- Prepare and present project status reports covering safety, cost forecasts, schedules, and
- risks.
- Facilitate communication among clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory
- agencies to align project goals.
- Contribute to the development of project delivery standards and best practices
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction on Management.
- Candidates must have experience managing mul ple building projects across the full
- lifecycle, including pre-design, design, construction on, procurement, and contract
- administration.
- Strong knowledge of construction law, building codes, safety, and quality management
- practices.
Preferred Requirements:
- P.Eng. licensure in Alberta preferred, supporting quality assurance responsibilities.
- 5 years of progressive experience in construction on project management and structural engineering.
- Proficiency in 3D structural analysis, modeling, and design software including but not
- limited to ETABS, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, SAFE, as well as other computer-aided de-
- sign tools relevant to this role.
- Proven expertise in applying major structural design codes and standards.
- Good written and verbal communication skills (English proficiency essential).
- Ability to recognize and adhere to established deadlines and schedules.
- Ability to fit into a fast-paced team environment and/or work independently.
- Self-motivated, detail oriented and multi-tasking
- Proficiency in project management and scheduling so ware (MS Project, Primavera P6)
- and collaboration tools (SharePoint, Autodesk, Bluebeam REVU).
- PMP® or LEED accreditation considered an asset.
