Role Description The Lead Installer is a full-time, on-site role based in Ottawa, ON, responsible for overseeing and performing installation work for flooring and renovation projects. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting project plans, preparing sites, installing a variety of flooring and related materials, and ensuring work meets company standards for quality and safety. The Lead Installer coordinates and guides crew members, assigns tasks, and supports training to maintain efficient workflows and consistent craftsmanship. This role also involves communicating with project managers and clients, tracking progress, reporting issues, and ensuring that projects are completed on schedule and within scope. The Lead Installer is expected to maintain tools and equipment, follow health and safety regulations, and represent the company professionally on all job sites.
Qualifications
- Strong installation skills for flooring and renovation projects, including experience with measurements, layout, and use of installation tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and work orders, with solid attention to detail and quality control.
- Leadership skills to coordinate crews, delegate tasks, mentor team members, and maintain a productive, respectful work environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with colleagues, interacting with clients, and reporting project status.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices, including proper handling of materials, tools, and adherence to local health and safety regulations.
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills to address on-site challenges and keep projects on track.
- Previous experience in flooring installation, renovation, or construction in a lead or senior installer role is highly beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites in Ottawa and surrounding areas.
